Chilean Bicentenary

Hi! Now I am going to speak about the Chilean bicentenary because I think that it is a really interesting topic.

Lately our country has happened for a series of very difficult situations. In February happened one of the worst natural catastrophes in our country, an earthquake where many persons died, furthermore some time ago 33 miners were caught for more than 1 month to 700 meters of depth, but in spite of it Chile managed to overcome these tragedies with the effort of all the Chilean people.

In Chile during the centenary many public buildings were inaugurated, the bicentenary celebrations in 2010 were very similar because many churches and ancient buildings were restored. But furthermore the government realized many cultural events that emphasize the country's rejection of military dictatorships and celebrations related to the Chilean patriotism

The different departments of our country, as the department of culture and education organized free plays related to the independence and the Mapuche people.

The day's festivities included a musical celebration at the National Stadium in Santiago, a tribute to Chilean music over 200 years. A military parade and a “light show” were also realized.

During the celebration of the Chilean bicentenary I went to many places, at first I went to see the giant flag that was put in front of “La moneda” with my nephew and boyfriend, it was a really exciting event because there were many people, principally children, and the Piñera president gave a very encouraging speech.

Then I went to see the military parade, the truth is that It was a uncomfortable experience because the heat was stifling and I was standing for more of two hours with a lot of people , but the show was great, overall the plane’s show and the military school’s show. Furthermore I went to a “Letellier Rodeo” because in this place realized a horse show with children.

Finally I went with all my family (cousins, aunts, brother and sisters) in my house. My mom and my aunts cooked typical Chilean food and I danced “cueca” with my father, brother and boyfriend, it was a really great celebration 

Sixteen & Pregnant

In my free blog I am going to speak about a reality television series called "16 & Pregnant”. In my free time I love watch this series on TV because in the program document the true stories of several pregnant teens in high school.

I like watch “16 & pregnant” because each episode tells a new story and shows the different challengers that have the teenagers every day   with their family and friends to school and finances as new parents.

Often the teenagers feel frustrated when they know that they will be parents, but later they possess with the support of his parents and prepare themselves to receive the baby.

All the episodes are really good, in each of them I am eager to see the end though often it is sad for that the parents of the babies can’t take responsibility for the care of his children and they give the babies in adoption, but before the baby’s parent have often meetings with the new baby’s parents. But in other episodes is very gratifying to see the teen parents raising his children. The episode typically ends when the baby is a few months old

The teenagers are very important for us because they are the country’s future, furthermore in our future career we will be the persons in charge of to prevent the teen pregnancy. The midwifery is very important in the teenager’s life because they always give advices to the teenagers and give them information about the different contraceptive methods to avoid a not wished pregnancy

Dr Maldonado´s presentation

The presentation of the Maldonado’s doctor was really interesting for us because he used the scientific evidence for to abolish many myths related to the development of the nervous system in the different periods of the life.

I believe that the most important topic mentioned by the Maldonado’s doctor were:

“There is no time to lose as everything important about the brain is decided by the age of three”, the doctor explained that there are many scientist who think that is in the early years of a child when (s) he is most capable of learning because we birth with a maximum number of neurons that we lose during our develop. But the Maldonado’s doctor said that the learning depends of the environment because if we live in an “enriched” environment we could have better able to perform the learning task, there fore I think that we are very important, like future midwifery, in the first hours of the baby’s life because we should prepare an comfortable environment during their birth, The birth is the most important event in the human life.   The second presented by the Maldonado’s doctor was: “We only use 10% of our brain anyway”, he said that this idea is wrong because the brain always is 100% active even when we are sleeping.

Finally I think that other important idea presented by the doctor was:  “The men use the left-brain’, the women use the right-brain”, but the doctor think that the hemispheres of the brain don’t work separately, furthermore is impossible that the people think that for this reason “The men are more intelligent than the women”.

The abortion

Dra. Binfa´s presentation was really interesting because she spoke about different topics related with our career like the abortion, use of pills, women’s batter and others.

I believe that the most important topic exposed by the Dra Binfa was the abortion.

The abortion always has been a very debated topic in our country because every years the numbers of teen pregnancies continue increasing and according to the numbers the teenagers are the one that’s go  with major frequency to the abortion for to finish with a pregnancy.

In my opinion I believe that at first the teenagers think that the pregnancy is a great problem because in the future they will not be able to study, furthermore when they confront a situation like the pregnancy they always look for the easiest way for to escape of this situation and In this case the form easiest to go out of the problem is the abortion.

 In Chile the teenagers of high social class they are who turn to the abortion there fore generally the birth rate always is higher in the low social class.

The abortion can affect directly in the teenager’s develop because often they feel out of the family and they can develop a guilt feeling furthermore this situation affect in the relation whit their friends and in the performance school.

I think that in the abortion the parent’s role is fundamental because in a situation like this the teenagers feel alone and unincluded.

The stress!!!

Nowadays we live in a very busy world; we have many problems and worries that often cause tension and anxiety like relationship problems, family conflicts, death of a close relative, heavy emotions or a natural disaster like an earthquake. Furthermore often the people think that in the job or school there are too many pressures and demands on them, all these situations can cause stress in the people, for this reason the stress is a very common problem in the world.

The stress is a nervous, hormonal and immune system alteration. This alteration is caused by the intensive activity of these systems when the people have some worry.

 All the persons respond different to this situation, some people become angry and others develop eating disorders or substance abuse problems, but the most typical symptoms are: anxiety or panic attacks, irritability, headaches, chest pain, stomach problems, allergic reactions such as eczema, sleeping problems and sadness or depression.

There are many relaxation techniques for delete the stress, like yoga or meditation, but also is many important to know that when the people have stress need the support of all their family because this is a very awkward situation.

In the future we are going to work many people and they can have many problems like these and is our responsibility to help them, we should give them all our support and information about the stress because I think that there are many people whit this problems but they don’t know about this disorder. 

Emergency contraception

The truth is that from my point of view I believe that is too difficult to express an opinion related to a topic like “emergency contraception”, but also I think that we are free persons with right to express our opinions.

The emergency contraception is used for women to prevent pregnancy after sex. Nowadays there are many debates between the persons who believe that the emergency contraception is an abortive method and the persons who believe that it is not an abortive method. The government of our country has tried  to find a solution, but always there are discussions between the most conservative sector of the government and the persons who fight for the freedom of decision. Some years ago a victim of a violation could go to a drugstore and buy “the tablet of the day later ", nowadays this does not happen because  many people of the government believe that it is an abortive method, and the commercialization of the tablet was prohibited

 I agree with the persons who believe that the emergency contraception does not produce abortion and I believe that it helps to prevent an unwanted pregnancy because these medicaments act before the moment of the implantation of the embryo. I believe that the life begins from the moment of the implantation and not in the union of the ovum with the spermatozoid because the last year I had many subjects related to cellular biology and embryology and during these courses we learned to form our own opinion about this topic. Furthermore I believe that all the persons should have the freedom of deciding on theirs lives, but also I think that the principal thing that our government should do is to increase the sexual education to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

I LOVE CHILE!!

Hi!

In this opportunity I am going to speak about a very important event that happened in my country a few days ago, I refer to the “miners trapped” in the North of Chile.

This history began when on August 5 the main access of the San José’s mine collapsed. Inside the mine there were many men working, but only 33 of them stayed trapped.

I remember that the first image that I saw in the television was very dramatic because there were a lot of people outside of the mine, they were waiting for news of their relatives.

The days were happening and all the Chilean and foreign people were very worried for the well-being of the miners because they were to 700 meters of depth without water or food and the Chilean government was doing many strategies to find them but neither was successful. The miners had been 17 days trapped and this day the history changed when on august 22 the rescue team received a letter and a message from the place where the miners were, it is the message: " we are alive the 33 in the 
 shelter ". I believe that this August 22 was one of the most wonderful days of our country because all people were happy for the miners.

Today we are on September 3 and the miners even are trapped because is a slow work to take out them of the mine, but they receive every day food, water, theirs family’s messages, and others. Finally I can say that I would be the happiest person in the world if they were whit us.
